One Party Down

Having a birthday celebration at a popular restaurant on a Friday night is a big no-no. Despite waiting over an hour for a table (even though I "reserved" a table), Rachel ended up having a very nice birthday party Friday night. In attendance were: Rachel, Erin, Chesea, Taylor, Me, my mom, dad, grandfather, and Rachel's favorite teacher, Mrs. Gaydos. Rachel got a big birthday serenede by the RJ Gator's staff and got pied in the face (part of the reason she wanted to go there!)

I've been feeling a little weak lately, and am wondering if it is my new medication, Straterra. I don't know if it has elevated my blood pressure or something similar, because I have also had a lot of ringing in my ears. I'm thinking of going in to the grocery store tomorrow morning before working out at Curves to check it in the machine they have there. I think my doctor's appt. is the following week. If it is high, I'll call and go in sooner.

Because of feeling this way, my weekend was somewhat unproductive. I feel pretty bad about that, but I'm sure I'll make up for it once I feel better.

There is a John Denver special on the public broadcasting channel right now, and I'm really enjoying it. I think I need to get his cd. I still have my albums, but nothing to play them on. I've been singing along, reliving my crush from when I was ten years old! Hehe! He certainly sang some catchy tunes and had a great voice. It's music that just makes you feel good!

Tomorrow we take Alp for his initial appt. with the DAN doctor. We have to travel to Miami for this. It should be interesting. We'll see what they think the plan should be, and see if we can handle it. This has been the subject of many disagreements between Alp's mother and me and Erhan.

More later.

Aarg!

I guess this isn't as easy as I thought. I wrote my second entry and for some reason, it doesn't show up unless I click on archives. So this one is sort of an experiment to see where it shows up. Hmmmmm...

Day Two

Day two of blog life and I'm going strong! He he!

Today I've been cleaning my parents' Florida home because they are arriving this afternoon. (I have to pick them up at the Fort Lauderdale airport in a couple of hours.) They are snow birds that are flying in late this year.

Since I used the house for a few weeks while they were away (and also used it to shower after Wilma when my house didn't have water), I figured the least I could do was make sure I left it the way I found it ( I feel so grown up just for thinking this way! hehe). It was a lot of work and I'm pretty wiped out. I'm writing and resting until I have to make the drive.

I joined Curves the other day and I'm dying to get back there for another workout. I absolutely LOVED my first time. The reason I haven't been able to go for the past couple of days is that I have had to watch Alp.

I think Curves will suit me well. It seems to be the perfect place for an ADD adult to exercise. There is lively music that is interrupted every thirty seconds by a voice commanding us to "change stages now". I wish I could get a voice like that to command me in my house. Oh how much more efficient I would be. Anyway, like I said, my first work out was fabulous and I felt great afterwards. I'm looking forward to getting in shape!

I had some good news today from my poet friend,Freada. She popped in to 30/30 at ITWS and said she will not only be back with the challenge soon, but will be in her new apartment in the area soon! It is a half blook from the intercoastal and once she is settled, I am invited for tea! I can't wait to meet her in person and have a poet friend in the area.

I think this will wrap it up for my official second blog bit. I'm just rolling along...

trying to blog

I'm going to try this blogging thing, and really write something (as opposed to just posting poems). I just can't imagine I'll have anything that interesting to say, but I'll give it a go!!!

I finally planned the girls' 11th birthday parties today. It is over a month late, but we got off track since Erin was in the hospital when it was supposed to take place.

Rachel is going to have a little get-together at a nearby restaurant called RJ Gator's. It is also a sports bar. She is just inviting a few school friends, the neighbors, her teacher and his son (who is in kindergarten...they adore each other!) and my parents and grandfather will come too. That's planned for this Friday.

Erin is going to have her party the following Saturday. She is going to have one of those murder mystery parties and a sleep-over. The party she chose is called Miss Teen USA. The plot is something about one of the contestants being murdered. Guests show up as the characters they are assigned, and then they have to solve the mystery to find out who dunnit.

I got a bug up my butt today and had the girls help me carry our kitchen table out to the curb to be taken away for garbage pick-up. That thing was getting uglier by the day, and I'm glad to have it gone. I moved the dining room table into the breakfast nook area, minus one leaf,... and it looks much better. Now, I plan to use the vacant dining room as an art studio. I just need an easel and I'll be all set. I'm pretty excited because that room gets great light. There are pretty french doors that look out to the backyard.

Well, I guess I did it. My first post!
Done!
